Running errands today! Slept in, made breakfast, baked croutons and cleaned the kitchen. Washed all of the bedding in the guest room (we’ve had so many guests already!), did two loads of clothes, cleaned the guest bathroom and walked Noel. Now I’m at Ikea exchanging a lamp, then on the hunt for the perfect bedspread, New York and Company for dress pants, Target for a desk and probably Whole Foods to grab something to cook tonight. And squeezing in a run today too! Whew! Busy girl!
Finally went for a run today after a bit of a hiatus. It snowed yesterday but I thought if I bundled up I would be ok. Temperature wise I was fine but good lord it was hard to breathe. Guess the old inhaler just couldn’t do it all. Made it a mile in 12 minutes, power walking the last 1/4 mile bc I could hardly breathe. Go away winter air, I just wanna run!
Pjs new tv setup, he’s obsessed. I’m more obsessed with the fact that I can browse online or watch YouTube videos on here! Tvs with Internet are the way to go!
Whoops! Can’t believe it’s been 3 weeks since I last posted. Feels like yesterday. Getting everything moved in was quite interesting. We had some friends help with all the big items and the Pj and I went back and forth to the apartment getting boxes and odds and ends. It was painful. To deliver our new couches we would have to pay $150 so Pj had the great idea of us doing it ourselves. They loaded them into the trucks and we drove to the new place. The loveseat was tricky, but not awful. Then came the big papa. It was over 200 lbs, completely awkward to get ahold of, had to go up 3 stairs and then twist to fit through the doorway. We made it about halfway down the sidewalk before I needed it put down. Patrick put it down too quickly, it came down right on my fingers pressing them into the concrete and leaving me no way to get it off. Instant tears. I couldn’t stop crying it hurt so badly. He had to get it off for me and by then, I was exhausted, tired, cold, annoyed and over the whole “moving furniture and boxes” thing. Then came turning it to get it through the door. It didn’t fit at first, pinning my fingers into the door frame and me having a meltdown. Pj is fussing at me bc now the couch is on the ground that’s wet and dirty. I’m having a meltdown bc I literally cannot lift this couch and turn it through the door. Finally, I said, “OK JUST LIFT IT AND GET IT DONE!” 10 seconds later it was inside and where it should be. I certainly wasn’t exaggerating though about the pain. By the next morning, my forearms had bruises all over them from where I had immensely strained my muscles. Next time, I’ll pay the delivery charge.
Well, didn’t get that promotion. All I have to say is…
Thank goodness!
At first I was really drawn to the pay and being on the floor more. But I’ve been managing the 10am-12pm segment everyday AND trying to get my work done so it’s been a lot. I realized I really like my position and don’t want to be on the floor 100% of the time. It’s boring.
So when my manager sat me down to tell me that the position was filled, she also wanted to talk about other things. One of them being my new raise. $2 more an hour! That’s a little over $300 more a month and almost $4000 more per year. My goal is to be making $30,000 by the end of the year, this makes it a little more realistic!
We’re a $6-8 million store and because we did so well last year, it looks like we’ll become an $8-11 million store. If (/when) that happens, more positions open and my manager wants me to consider the Product manager position. 50% of my time is on the floor, the other 50% is spent doing back house/operational work. Perfect mix of the two! And the raise would be beautiful. :)
Thought this would be part time when I moved here and it’s changed into much more. Now they’ll pay for me to get my masters degree and then watch out French career, you’re mine!
This is how we slept last night. After moving furniture for over 10 hours, I was exhausted and really irritable. We couldn’t set up our furniture bc we have the carpet cleaners and vent/duct cleaners coming today so we had to crash as the empty apartment. I don’t mind sleeping in the floor (and noel loved being able to lay with me!) but having to get up at 6 for work? ZOMBIE TODAY.
